New Product: Acrylic Poured Soft Cover Mini-Journals

As I’ve been experimenting with fluid acrylics, I’ve been formulating ways to turn what I make into products for the shop. If you follow Pigmentology on Instagram you might have gotten some sneaky peeks.

So far for this line we’ve got three journals done and listed – various sizes, two different color-ways. The size of the finished journal depends on how the acrylic skin dries when poured onto a silicone mat, so each one is a handmade, original work of abstract art.

Keep your eyes peeled, especially on Instagram, for more process as we develop more products with fluid art!

#letteringsummerunderthestars – Practicing Calligraphy with TCM

Say hello to a new hand lettering series! We’re joining #letteringsummerunderthestars (an exercise created by @rosiechristinestudio , inspired by the classic movie line-up on @turnerclassicmovies !!) and providing prints of our artwork for sale on Etsy by the end of the month. Starting with the iconic Marilyn, of course.

Keep a look out for each movie star as we complete the challenge on Instagram! Feel free to join in at any point and use the hashtag so everyone can see your work.

CutCardStock Design Team Project 12 – Anniversary Card – Ivory on White with Crayola Watercoloring

We are so pleased to be working with the CutCardStock team! Each month, using their products in order to make two themed projects, and hosting step-by-step DIY instructions on their blog.

On our blog, we will have full YouTube videos showing the process as well. So be sure to check both places to get the full story!

Our twelfth project features white and ivory card stocks, crayola watercoloring, floral stamping, and brush lettering – as always! It’s a delicate and simple DIY project.

Neon Dirty Pour – Acrylic Skin on Silicone Mat Using Craft Paints and DIY Pour Medium

We’ve been making a ton of fluid acrylic skins to use in some new products that are currently in the design stages. While we’re not quite ready to show you the final result, we always love sharing our process. Stay tuned to see what we end up making with these wonderful fluid pours!

This video will take you through our typical process of creating a fluid acrylic pour that will dry into an easily-removable skin on the silicone mat. Once we peel it up, we use it to create all kinds of different mixed media art and products.

As soon as our line is done (which we’re super excited about) we’ll be launching the announcement here, on Youtube, and on Instagram. Can’t wait to show you more of what we’ve been working on!

Pigeon Watercolor and Brush Pen Illustration Speed Paint

I think we all could use more reasons to unwind. Watercolor and all things pigment-based are my therapy. Sharing what I do with the world is also my therapy. Watching what others do can be so calming as well. You get caught up in their vibe that you get lost to the troubles around you.

Well, here’s to you getting caught up in my vibes.

I made this little pigeon babe for my Mother in Law on her birthday. She loves pigeons. I know a lot of people don’t love pigeons, but she does, and I think that’s special. Because they really are beautiful, smart little creatures.

This pigeon is all the way across an ocean right now, in a good home. I had so much fun creating him and I hope you have fun watching me create him.

As usual, supplies will be listed on screen as I use them. I will also be doing something new where I list them all in the tags here on the blog as well. Because that’s probably a thing that would be good to do!

Thanks all, looking forward to lots more fun things on the horizon.

Our eleventh project is a set of birthday cards, using Neenah Classic Crest ivory card stock and Curious Metallics once again. We are also using the watercolor smooshing technique, gel crayon stenciling, perfect pearls, and sequin embellishments. Enjoy!
